I just read that chapter tonight. I was actually dreading it, reading what everyone was implying. It caught me by surprise. My first instinct is to hate Amir, but after thinking about it, What would you do? What would I do? I'm not sure. As a child, I couldn't answer that. As an adult, I'd like to think I'd do something, anything, not caring about whether I'd get beat up or not, but I honestly can't say that.
I remember as a kid I did get into fights on occasion. A friend of my was fighting this one tall kid in the back of the gym. I was watching him get beat up. I couldn't stand to watch it go on any longer. So I gave the tall kid a punch in the face. As he staggered back, he was stund to see that I jumped in. Then we had at it for awhile. I don't remember how we stopped but we did. So, to me it killed me to read this part of the book.
